Richard Peter Barry

A YEAR AND A NAME-ORDER, BOTH FROM A 1999 LETTER AND NEITHER FROM A REGISTER. Pama has him PIETER RICHARD BARRY, b. 1866, where this archive and his mother's death notice have Richard Peter. The notice he signed himself is the better witness to the order, and the year is new. Kathleen's brother. Signed his mother's 1915 death notice as "Son in whose house deceased died", at Manorowen, Barkly East. A Richard Peter Barry, plaasboer of Jerpoint, is on the Cape Rebel roll — same name, right region, identity not proven.

…The surname BARRY had never been searched. It returns four, and two are here: Fred J. Barry of Ivanhoe, Barkly East / Wodehouse, tried June 1901 — the same month as Daniel Willem Schoeman of Caerlaverock , in whose house the family married five weeks later — and Richard Peter Barry of Jerpoint , which is Kathleen Barry's brother's name. Identity unproven; the district is not. The rebels → The spelling was changed to avoid the "joiners" The change is on paper. The spelling was not new.…

The documents

…Catherine Mary Sophia is her own name, and her mother's before her — Kathleen Barry , born 1859. Margaret Wilhelmina Elizabeth is the Barry name that runs down the other side of this family too. William Herman is Willem Hermanus , her father. Richard Peter is her uncle, Richard Peter Barry . Henry James is her brother. Five of eleven Daschner children carry Booyzen and Barry names. The surname leaves the family in one generation. The names do not. This is the same evidence the archive uses on the name and in the cousin marriage : in this family, forenames are inherited property, and they travel through daughters as reliably as surnames travel through sons.…

A dossier is every mention of a person anywhere in this archive, gathered automatically after the site is built and linked back to the page it appears on. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual — where two people share a name they share this page, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Nothing on a dossier page is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.
