THE SOURCE OF THE FORTUNATUS NAME across three families — and, as of 14 September 2026, A MAN WITH A HOUSEHOLD. The Settler's tenth child, born at a mission station the year his father was working the Orange River. He married ELIZABETH JOHANNA DU TOIT, and eight of their children are in the Dutch Reformed registers: baptised at COLESBERG in 1863, 1865, 1868, 1873, 1876 and 1877, at HOPETOWN in 1870, and at BETHULIE in 1881. The eldest is a GEORGE AUGUSTUS, named for the grandfather who had been dead nineteen years. THEN THE HOUSEHOLD GOES NORTH: three of those children marry or die at WAKKERSTROOM in the eastern Transvaal, four hundred miles from the font. That is the second proof of the Wakkerstroom convergence, and it does not depend on a name — it is a family moving. 17 SEPTEMBER 2026 — HE HAS A DEATH, A DISTRICT AND AN ESTATE.
